President Abdifatah Mohamud

Abdifatah is a fourth-year student majoring in Environmental Policy and Decision-Making with a  specialization in Water Conservation.  With his knowledge of the Somali community both in the States and abroad as well as his passion for bringing about a wealth of peace worldwide, he hopes to take  a firm leadership role in this year's Somali Students' Association. An interesting fact about Abdifatah is that he would like to visit the Oceanian nation of Papua New Guinea one day. For leisure, he likes to swim and take nice long drives through the city. Always thinking of the next big thing, he is looking forward to spearheading SSA towards a  new and innovative year!

Vice President Abdul-rizaq Hamoud

Abdul-rizaq is a fifth-year biology major hoping to enter a health profession. He has high hopes for the Somali community and the Somali students at Ohio State and is constantly thinking of new ways to empower young members of the community and expand the scope of SSA's services. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, he is looking to graduate soon and capitalize off of a fantastic undergraduate career. His hobbies include all things sports and, given that he is a studious one, reading.

Treasurer Suad Osman

Suad is a second-year neuroscience major on a pre-med track. Always full of positive energy, Suad is looking to channel her passions for Somalia and African identity to offer a voice to people who don't have one. As the treasurer, she provides the backbone for the Association. The book Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristoff and Shirley WuDunn has greatly inspired her and is reflective of her heart for those on the margins. During free time, Suad has a long list of hobbies including reading, yoga, dancing, and watching movies.

Secretary Mohamed Haji

Mohamed is a fourth-year finance major at Ohio State. He plans to utilize his networking abilities to expand the reach of SSA in both Ohio State and the City of Columbus. His vision is for SSA to better recognize its role as the premier Somali student organization in Ohio and establish lasting connections with other Somali communities around the country. A soccer fan, Mohamed dreams of visiting Milan Italy in 2016 to watch the UEFA Champions League Final at San Siro stadium. In his spare time, Mohamed loves playing sports, watching movies, and playing video games.

Outreach Chair Saido Mohamed

Saido is a fourth-year biology major on a pre-med track. As outreach chair, she brings plenty of fresh new ideas to SSA this year and hopes to use her connections and networks to make SSA even more active on Ohio State's campus. The place Saido would most want to visit is Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and she enjoys reading and dancing on the side.

Event Chair Yasmin Mohamud

Yasmin is a third-year education major looking to enter a career in academia. As event chair, she is excited to use SSA's platform to create leadership, unity and change in the community. Yasmin enjoys reading and blogging! She also is focused on reflecting on the growth of her own soul and the goodness of her Creator.

IT Chair James Liou

James is a third-year International Studies major and hopes one day to be a relief worker abroad. Finding strong attachments to the Somali culture and community during his college career, he is excited to see what he can bring to the table for SSA this year. James would love to visit Myanmar (Burma) someday and he enjoys reading and basketball in his spare time.

Marketing/Communications Chair Muna Dualeh

Muna is a third-year history major on a pre-law track. She has been involved with SSA in the past, having been a part of our famous dance team that went viral (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4UxN_LxRyQ). A well-known member of the community, Muna is ecstatic about expanding her role with SSA this year. Muna's top  travel destination is Tokyo, Japan! On top of that, she loves animals and likes to travel.
