Service Chair
Hello! My name is Hamdi Said and I am a senior majoring in social work with a minor of substance misuse and addiction! My career aspirations are to be able to work with the Somali community here in Columbus. I am hoping to focus on mental health awareness and helping with the stigma that comes along with it! This year while I am your service chair, my goal is to create a space where people can have the opportunity to serve their community, while bridging the OSU community with outside communities. I’m excited for what our board has in store for everyone this year!

Hi, my name is Fardowsa! I’m a Public Health Major and City & Regional Planning minor and this year’s Outreach chair for SSA. My goals for the year include bridging the generational gap in our community and making SSA a home for all Somalis. Hope to see you all at our events this year!

Hi my name is Maryam Warsama! I am a third year Public Health major and minoring in Spanish and I’m pre-med (for now). I hope to one day inshallah be a OB and not live in Columbus! I was born in ATL and I now reside in the Boonies, OH. My life a moooovie :) I initially joined SSA because I wanted to meet more people here at Ohio State, it has been such a great experience, and now that I’m on eboard I’m excited to help expand SSA to the best of my ability! |

Hi my name is Bahja Ali and I’m serving as this years Vice President for SSA. I am currently a third year majoring in Public Affairs. With that I hope to someday serve in a public service position to better empower my community, historically disenfranchised individuals, and make money. The goals I aspire to accomplish while serving as SSA’s Vice President this year are to help expand and better include the members we serve on this campus and in our community and progress this organization to the best possible position it has ever been in on this great campus. Hello guys! My name is Hamdi Adan and I am a second year medical anthropology major. My dream is to become a cardiologist one day and to open up my own practice. I want to go back to Somalia Inshallah and open up my practice there so I can help my people. I joined ssa because I wanted to become closer to the Somali community

My name is Hibaq, I'm a third year student, majoring in radiological sciences and therapy to become an ultrasound technician. I was born in Connecticut, but raised in Columbus, Ohio. I love to read and spend time with my family. As Outreach chair, I hope to grow more sociable and outgoing. I am looking forward to reaching out to different communities this year. As for my goals in class, I hope to be brave enough to build on my education, possibly a business minor, so that I could positively impact my community. I hope to open up an Imaging center in Somalia Inshallah. |

Hello all. My name is Omar Waes, a biology major at The Ohio State University, and I plan on going into physical therapy in the near future. My interests in the sciences, particularly in health, nutrition, and kinesiology, have become quite fascinating to me throughout my many years as a student and athlete. I have always been very passionate about helping others in improving themselves. As treasurer of SSA I aspire to bring together the Somali diasporas and encourage more incorporation of the Somali culture. While also simultaneously investing in and building profound, trusting, and invigorating relationships 
Marketing Chair
Soo Dhawoow! I’m Hawa Hassan a third year majoring in Psychology. Inshallah I plan on furthering my education in Psychology for Graduate School as well. As marketing chair, I want to promote SSA to all. I think it’s important as Somali’s to stay in touch with our community both on and off-campus. My goal is to get new faces involved and expose this organization to as many people possible. I hope we all grow our passion and enthusiasm for SSA together this academic year. 
Academic Chair Assalamu Alaikum, my name is Istahil Ali, I'm a 3nd year studying Public Health. Academics is something that I am extremely passionate about, especially in regards to the Somali community. I want this organization to be seen not just an organization by Somali people, but a more recognized, respected, successful organization on campus, and I believe strengthening the Academic aspect in SSA, is a start in solidifying SSA’s presence on campus.

Hey guys, My name is Ayub Ali and I'm a third year Health Science Major. My goal is to further my education through a PA Graduate Program promoting health and wellness and hopefully make a difference in people’s lives . I also want to continue learning and building on my love for the digital arts and create things beyond my imagination. I serve as the Director of Visuals for SSA, working to capture the true essence of what this organization means and what it brings to the community.
