Assalamu alaykum everyone! My name is Caisha Abdullahi. I’m a third year pursuing a dual degree in International Studies and Public Policy with an Arabic minor. I’m so excited and honored to be leading SSA as the president for this school year! I can’t wait to help cultivate a sense of community for everyone while spreading our culture and traditions throughout campus. Somalia hanoolato! 🤍

Vice President

Asalamu alaykum!!! I’m Aya, and I’ll be serving as vice president on this years board. I’m a third year psychology major. I am beyond excited to continue our traditional events like Somali night, but also create our own new traditions and events that hopefully stick with the future SSA. may this year be a great one in shaa Allah 🤍

Ex Officio

Hi everyone! My name is Bedria Basha, Ex Officio of SSA this year. I am currently a fourth year, majoring in Nursing. This year, I'm looking forward to showcasing the rich, diverse Somali culture at all of our wonderful events Insha’Allah. With another year of being in SSA, I am looking forward to fostering a safe environment where students from all backgrounds can engage, cherish, build more connections & friendships, and simply have fun!

Secretary

Hey guys! My name is Naima Wedow and i’m a 3rd year Biology major with a minor in Arabic. I will be serving as secretary for SSA this year. My biggest goal going into this school year is being more inclusive and making people feel welcomed. I want everyone that is part of this organization to feel like their ideas are valued and heard! My biggest goal is definitely to bring back volunteering and mentorship opportunities for the youth in our community. I hope to be able to see many new faces at our events this year!

Treasurer

Hello everyone!! My name is Umayma Omar and I will be serving as treasurer for SSA this year! I’m a third year studying systems/behavioral neuroscience. Being a general member last year, I got to experience lots of SSA events. I am excited to work more behind the scenes this year. I look forward to creating events that allow our youth to reconnect with things like traditional gabaay (poetry) and our rich history. SSA also gives me a chance to share our incredible culture with other students on campus, which is something I value. Can’t wait to work with you all this year!

Asalaamu alaykum!! My name is Sahara and I’ll be the co-marketing chair on this years board! I am a third year health sciences major with a biology minor. I am so excited to create new memories, new events, and new friendships! inshallah this year we can expand SSA not only at OSU but in the Somali community by having our traditional events and also establishing new events that can be carried out for the year to come!

Marketing Chair

Heyy everyone!! My name is Natija Ibrahim and I am this years Co-Marketing Chair! I’m a third year Health Science major doing pre- Respiratory Therapy with a minor in psychology. I’m soooo excited to be apart of SSA this year and working alongside these 10 beautiful ladies!!! My goal this year for SSA is to have a welcoming environment where everyone of different backgrounds feel welcomed. Also expose SSA to more people and just have a memorable time being on the board!

Academic Chair

Assalamu alaykum! My name is Sahra and I am a third year majoring in Social Work. I will be serving as Academic Chair. This year I am looking forward to being able to give back to the Somali community by mentoring and educating our youth. I’m also so excited to create new traditions and memories that will last a lifetime!
